". . . we're all fucking Duffs!"
Hey Readers, welcome back! Today we're going back in time, to a hilarious world where Bianca Piper threw cherry coke into Westley Rush's face after being an annoying 'jackass'... oh, and calling her a Duff! The boy deserved more than what he received that night, if it were me he may have lost some limbs. Thanks to Netflix the spark to reread this old flame ignited, I mean how am I suppose to watch the movie and not reread the book. That's as backwards as watching the Lord of the Rings before the Hobbit. It's just disgraceful.
"LOL!"
To readers who haven't read this fantastic book yet, you‘s better add it to your TBR list and readers who have, enjoy the memories!

Goodreads' Blurb
Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn't think she's the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She's also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her "the Duff," she throws her Coke in his face.
But things aren't so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.
Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn't such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.
What I find interesting about friends (or enemies) with benefits is how their mind bypasses the knowledge that intimacy always creates emotions, a.k.a feelings. Take Bianca for example it started with a kiss, then sex, then talking, then sleeping together (with no happy time), and finally she rushes out of westley's house because she developed feelings for him. Most specifically, LOVE or like her words. LOL!
What in the world was she thinking, she's been sleeping with the most womanizing jackass in the county, who calls her Duffy as if it's a cute pet name, and then had the audacity to fall in love with him. Idiot. How she didn't see that was coming is beyond me. For someone so smart, she was soooo oblivious. She really should read a highschool romance once and a while ;)."
The Book Review
The Duff is an unusual highschool roomance that will keep you reading well into the early morning. Kody Keplinger‘s writing was perfect for the plot and characters. She expertly conveyed the angst and resilience of Bianca as well as her vulnerbility and insecurities. The scenes and the plot flowed together effortlessly, not a moment out of place or snag in the storyline. Duff is a realtively clean worded book, there is no dirty talk, no naughty detailed moments, nor an in depth play-by-play of Bianca and Westley's sexcapades. I warn you, you will be left with some sexual tension that the detailed kisses won't make up for. Find solace in the sexiness of them having a secret realtionship and the smudges of smut Kody provides us.
Bianca and Westley's realationship was healing for me. I know that it's considered wrong to escape from reality with any substance or act, whether it drugs, life threatening hobbies, or alcohol. But I thoroughly enjoyed, the destigmitization of using sex as an outlet. I'm not saying I condone substance abuse and I hope to whoever you pray to, that you have some safety measures for that dangerous hobby, but the stereotype that sex is a bad was to escape is biased. Most people say it to women in an effort to keep them 'respectable' whatever the fuck that means, or they say it men in fear that may become sex addicts from the 'overuse'. Sex is considered to be the most intimate act in the world, I admired how Kody chose this to be Bianca's avenue of escape, demystifying the lack of evil in losing yourself in someone else, of having a few moments of peace before returning to reality. The escape is the restart button and the act of running away is the first step to healing in many minds. Everyone runs away at some point in their life, why can’t we escape into sex?
We've overviewed smut levels, characters, flow, and writing, my book review is ending with a quote of inspiration for Westley and Bianca's ending.
"Westley Rush doesn't chase girls, but I'm chasing you."
-- Westley Rush to Bianca Piper
Thank you for reading and remember everyone's a fucking Duff!
