"There's a war brewing."
Hey Readers!! Now I know that I have been absent for the past month or so, I do apologize. Anyway, I'm back and to celebrate my return we are continuing with a favorite of mine, the 'A Born Assassin' series!!! Now this review may be a bit short but there is a reason for that. This book was packed with key moments that will help the climax moment burn brighter than a supernova. Also these moments I guarantee will start a snowball effect for the future catastrophic and blissful moments!
In an attempt to not spoil the easily spoilable book, enjoy this quick review of Ruthless! Thanks Jackie for the ARC, I loved the characters and their strives. You have made an amazing world, that your readers will loose themself in.

Goodreads' Blurb
Defy the court. Find the cure. Win the war.
After their grueling, death-filled journey to the land of the bloodthirsty Cirisian elves, Mercy and Tamriel have returned to the capital with their two desperate hopes for curing the plague: Niamh, an immortal with ties to the Old Gods; and the Cedikra, a rare medicinal flower which could save Tamriel’s people—if they can figure out how to use it before the king’s court tears them apart.
Meanwhile, war is brewing in the Cirisor Islands. Under the thrall of his cruel, cunning father, Calum can do nothing but watch as Firesse assembles an army unlike any before. Armed with unnatural magic, deadly Assassins, and world-class weaponry, the Cirisians will stop at nothing to make the humans pay for the mistreatment of their ancestors. Unable to speak, unable to act, Calum must find a way to break free of his captors’ grasp before Firesse destroys everyone and everything he loves
Book Review
Talk about an ending!. Ruthless is the third book of the ‘A Born Assassin’ series and it has been glorious. I have to say it was not as enthralling in the beginning, I will admit to moments of lackluster and vying interest. Now that may be my back to back reading, so if you feel differently let me know, and I will give the beginning chapters another read. It was like riding a rollercoaster. The first few chapters are like the loading and going up the first hump. Just sitting, looking around the rest of the carnival, easily distracted by this drop that will make you hurl with excitement. Chapters six and beyond was the real ride.
So, many characters were added to the series! You know I can't resit new personalities! Also, a certain assassin is about to get a crash course in family life! Hint, it's not the Guild-mother. *wink, wink* I loved the the new characters and their connection to Mercy. You can see the lost of their childhood bond grow as they rejoin as adults. Tamriel, had a lot of introspection relating to his father, the kingdom, his council, subjects, the elves, mercy, everyone. It was nice to get detailed inner dialogues on these conflicts throughout the storyline. Calum was the most interesting. I enjoyed his peek-a-boo scenes, his angst with his problems and the people around him. The elements of magic and ...
(I literally had to stop here, LOL. This no spoiler thing is difficult. Maybe I should write a spoiler review in the future?)
I can't continue without spoilers, so read about Calum in Ruthless!
I have to say my favorite part of the book was the battle. I was bummed about mercy but it worked out in the end. Plus, it gave other characters a moment in the spotlight. Like Niamh, watch for that one. Damnit. (I'm going to leave that one in, its not too bad, right?) Besides the beginning being a bit slow to me, the body and ending definitely made up for the intro’s pace. I absolutely recommend readers to read the series from the beginning, this book nor the prior book could be read as a standalone. Ruthless does end with a cliffhanger with mercy finding herself in an unexpected situation. God, this girl is always in trouble, LOL! I hope that you enjoy Ruthless! Thank you Jackie!
