'She'd chosen a career teaching the Fae language. Such a thing was disgusting. Utterly, undeniably disgusting. . . Kovian begged himself to be disgusted'
Hey Everybody! I know the lure quote was unusual especially to readers that have been with me throughout my entire (three month) blog journey, but I just had to post it. This moment was hilarious! To sum it up, in the new ARC copy (that I am giving an honest review to in exchange of the author providing me a copy) Faerie Fallen, Kovian meets his beauty personified tutor, Sela and he is literally begging in his mind to find some aspect of her disgusting. LOL! I read this portion around three times when I found it. My parents were look at me like I was crazy because I busted out snorting. I swear they gazed upon me as if I had just grown a cute piglet snout!
Well, moving on, the review today is obviously about the Fae #favoritefantasycreature! Enjoy Faerie Fallen and thank you Carol for the ARC.
*God, I just reread the quote and stated snorting again!!! LOL!*

Goodreads' Blurb
She looks like an angel ... acts like a human ... and must risk her life and heart to save the faerie realm.
Sela is a young, feather-winged faerie, living a life of magical ease. Her fellow Fae portray themselves as benevolent gods, worthy of human allegiance. But Sela would rather carouse with mortals than rule them.
When Sela gets caught illegally fraternizing with humans, her leaders cast her out of magical society, declaring her a fallen faerie. They command her to masquerade as a human and spy on the Darros, a family scheming to take down the Fae. If she helps stamp out the conspiracy, her exile will end. Sela agrees to tutor the Darros' son, Kovian, in the Fae language.
When she arrives, she discovers Kovian isn’t a little boy. He’s eighteen. He’s gorgeous. And he despises faeries. Wearing her human glamour, Sela intends to charm him into revealing his family’s plot against the Fae. But she finds herself truly falling for him, while he pushes her away at every turn.
Despite Kovian’s hostility, Sela is determined to earn his trust, learn his secrets, and save her people … if his family doesn’t discover her true identity and kill her first.
Book Review
Now this review is one of those sandwich reviews. Some nice bread on the top and bottom and little evil for the filling. I loved that this faerie love story wasn't cliched. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy cliches. Something about a heroine breaking social barriers is just damn good entertainment. But this isn't really about break social barriers, but a lovers mind. Trying to undo or bypass stereotypes and prejudices is incredible difficult and I believe Carol did a great job. There were times when I was exasperated with Kovian but those murderous feelings went away whenever I read his inner dialogues. LOL. I did enjoy the controversies between the two and that this wasn't necessary a typical Fae romance. It isn't set in Faery, there isn't any deep insight into fae warriors or fae princes and princesses fighting for power. It was a nice reprieve from the usual.
The good thing is, is that I'm not very hunger and I'm writing a grilled cheese review. Just bread, cheese, and bread. Maybe one or two layers of filling. Promise. Although I did like basis of the novel, overtime I felt as if the storyline became dull. I understand that we have our climax moment and then authors try to wean us off of the drugs in preparation for a cliffhanger. But, it felt like after the climax, Faerie Fallen went cold turkey! What was once easily read become tedious and not effortless.
Back to bread.
Detour: What bread do you prefer to eat? Rye, Wheat, White, Raisin? Or fancy shit like pumpernickel? (I won't judge if you like fancy shit, I do too!)
Back to the sandwich! Our last slice, the most important of sandwich, the top. LOL. *Don't mind the dirty.* I liked Sela as a fae. It isn't very often that we get to see heroines that are already fae and appropriate to humanity. Like almost never. But I liked the twist, the insecurities of an eighteen year old were very relevant to me as I am eighteen ;). It made me adore her more and more as I continued on with the story.
Thank you for reading and thank you Carol Anderson for the ARC! Faerie Fallen does end in a cliffhanger but book two is coming out this November.
