I am an open reader. Much to my families ignorance, my genres for reading range from Sunflowers and Daisies to Twisted, Dark, and Fucked Up. Personally, I always want to be told the bad news before the good. So, today I am dropping some novels that will make you EXTREMELY uncomfortable, books that make you want to murder the main characters. Tomorrow we can return to the light and run through lavender fields with characters that blush at a wink.
P.s. some of these books I personally have not read yet, however reliable sources and friends highly recommend them. This list is not in any particular order, just whatever came to mind first. I will write a mini review for the books I have read or not depends on my level of lazy. Enjoy the dark-side!
Book 1: Forever my Saint by Monica James

"I was kidnapped on my honeymoon by three masked men. Blindfolded. Bound. Destination unknown. I was told to stay silent and abide by their rules. But they didn’t realize I wasn’t a victim…not anymore.
The open sea was my backdrop for nine torturous days. During that time, glimmers of my fate were revealed by a man with the mysterious chartreuse-colored eyes. He should have scared me, but he didn’t. He intrigued me. And I intrigued him. He punished me when I didn’t listen, which was every single day. But beneath his cruelty, I sensed he was guarding a grave secret.
I was sold. And in a game of poker, no less. My buyer? A Russian mobster who likes to collect pretty things.
Now that I know the truth, I only have one choice. Sink or swim. And when one fateful night presents me the opportunity, I take it. I just never anticipated my actions would leave me shipwrecked with my kidnapper. He needs me alive. I want him dead. But as days turn into weeks, one thing becomes clear—I should hate him…but I don’t.
My name is Willow. His name is Saint. Ironic, isn’t it? He bears a name that denotes nothing but holiness yet delivers nothing but hell. However, if this is hell on earth…God, save my soul." (Goodreads)
Book 2: Prisoner by Annika Martin

Let it be known before you continue this is a fixer book. You know the book where the woman feels she can save the damaged man and live happily ever after. Welp, let me tell you Ms. Abigail got her HEA but she could not fix the man.
English graduate Abagail, is assigned to work as an English teacher to prisoners, at well … a prison. She is the typical teacher stereotype, up-done hair, poised, and don’t even get me started on her and grammatical errors. At the prison she meets an inmate named Grayson or Gray. Now this dude is a mix of broken and brilliance. The man has serious childhood trauma and issues but he devises a plan to escape his prison sentence. All he needs for his plan to work is distraction a.k.a his new English teacher. Before the escape there is lots of sexual frustration between Gray and Abby.
As Abby is forced into a closer proximity of Gray and he seduces her to the edge of temptation. Desire spikes between them as they test each others boundaries in class. On escape day Abigail is capture by Gray and their adventure begins. Men are killed on the way, secrets uncovered, and life and death decisions made. As Gray debates on whether to kill his new interest or keep her. Abigail is on thin ice as she navigates how to handle Grayson. Tension rises as bodies and minds collide. The captured aren't suppose to desire the captor, right?
*Prison ends in a happy dysfunctional ending for Grayson and Abby*

"WHEN HATE BECOMES OBSESSION…
Mistaken for her beautiful half-sister, Ellen Winthorp is taken captive by a madman who declares that she will be his "fifteen": the fifteenth victim of a vicious mafia blood feud. Armed with only her instincts, Ellen must resist her captor for as long as she can—which is easier said than done the more she's exposed to the complex man beneath the beast. Because Mischa Stepanov isn’t a mindless monster—he’s a wolf, and she’s the unwitting doe caught in his midst.
Unraveling the torment of his past may be her only hope of salvation... Or the secrets uncovered may destroy them both." (Goodreads)
Book 4: Ruthless King by Meghan March

"New Orleans belongs to me. You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see and all the things you don’t. My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met. I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt.
To have her in my debt.
She doesn’t know she caught my attention. She should’ve been more careful.
I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her. It’s time to collect what I’m owed. Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount." (Goodreads
Book 5: Blaire by Anita Gray

Blaire has to be one of the most gruesome books on this list. This series is about a servant/bodygaurd named Blaire. As an adult Blaire is conditioned to protect her 'Master' aka her childhood torturer, Makism. She is a highly skilled hacker and killer, meaning she may have been abused but this girl is no victim.
What makes this book so messed up is not only the abuse that she has and will endure but what her Makism has done to her mind. Blaire has a unique case of stockholm syndrome. She is able to recognize the abuse he is putting her through but she is unable to sway in loyalty. She believes that she must be loyal and cherish her abuser.
Blaire is 'borrowed' by a rival leader named Charlie. In their time together their relationship evolves. Blaire slowly comes into her own as she experiences kindness, gains independence, and introspection. With time with Charlie twindling down, Blaire must soon decide to stay with Charlie or return to Makism. Either choice has consequences.
*Blaire is a trilogy and the journey is strenuous, but it does end in justice for Blaire*
Book 6: Blood to Dust by L.J. Shen

*Blood to Dust was a thrilling tale, I actually reread it after writing this review. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!*
Book 7: Requiem of the Soul by Natasha Knight

"I was born with noble blood in my veins. Heir to a powerful dynasty. Wealth. Power. Aristocracy. Temptations too dangerous to resist. Until someone tried to steal it all.
Scarred and broken, I emerged from the flames. Now I’ve returned to take what’s mine.
Revenge.

*I have read this book, however my memory is a bit hazy on the exact order of events, but I do remember it was bomb-tactic!*
Book 8: Unorthodox by K.V. Rose

Book 9: Untouchable by Sam Mariano

"The bully isn't supposed to win.
Senior year was off to a rough start: lube in my locker, panties on my front porch, unimaginative name-calling. See, I got a player suspended from the football team for harassing me, and in my small Texas town, you don’t mess with the football players—even if they mess with you first.
I didn’t care if it was an unpopular thing to do; I stood up for myself… and in doing so, opened Pandora’s Box. I never dreamed I would attract the attention of locally worshipped star quarterback, Carter Mahoney. Never imagined his coveted attention would turn out to be such a nightmare. Beneath his carefully constructed façade lurks a monster, a predator looking for the perfect prey to play with. Now, since I’m the girl no one likes or believes, I guess I’m the perfect target for his dark games and twisted desires.
After surviving my first encounter with his casual depravity, all I really want is for Carter to leave me alone. But all he seems to want is me." (Goodreads)
